Convicted drug dealer “Freeway” Rick is appealing a July decision by Judge Percy Anderson of California’s Ninth District, which dismissed his case against platinum rapper Rick Ross. In the original suit Ross claimed the Florida rapper stole his name and identity in a commercial conspiracy led by former Def Jam President Jay-Z. Ross filed his suit under the Lanham Act, which protects against trademark infringement. |

Some of the biggest acts on the charts will be on hand to take the stage when the 2011 Billboard Music Awards hit Las Vegas on May 22. Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, the Black Eyed Peas, Taio Cruz, Keith Urban and 2010's crossover kings, Lady Antebellum, have all been tapped to perform at the show, which ABC will air live from Sin City's MGM Grand. |

It didn't seem like Rihanna's "S&M" could get any hotter. But now, it has. And all it took was adding a little Britney to the mix.
On Monday morning (April 11), Rihanna premiered a brand-new remix (or, as she put it, "RIHmix") of her controversial hit, featuring an assist by none other than Britney Spears. The track debuted less than 24 hours after RiRi teased her Twitter followers that she had "a sexy collabo comin' your way supa dupa soon ... it's Britney bitch!!!"
Britney then responded to Rihanna via her Twitter account, writing, "You're such a tease! I like it, like it ..." |

On May 24, Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group will release Self Made Volume 1, the label's first compilation. Now distributed by Warner Music, Maybach Music has expanded its roster this year to include Philadelphia, Pennsylvania emcee Meek Mill, Atlanta Georgia's Pill and Washington DC rapper Wale. While Maybach also includes Triple C's and R&B singer Teedra Moses, the aforementioned trio is who is believed to be joining Ross on the album art, pictured to the right. |
Ice Cube on a new Disney movie and signs on to produce new Bow...

While Disney hasn't always been the home of many Hip Hop related projects, the studio is working to release Chrome and Paint, a new film project by Ice Cube. The flick will center around car culture, as the title suggests and it will be co-written, co-directed and co-produced by Cube, who will also make an appearance in the movie.
Matt Alvarez, Cube's partner in CubeVision, will co-direct and co-produce the film. Eva Vives has signed off to write the film. Vives is best known for her 2002 film, Raising Victor Vargas.

Nicki Minaj Joins Britney Spears Tour.

Early Monday morning, TMZ.com confirmed Nicki Minaj would be the opening act for Britney Spears’ upcoming North American tour. Last week, as negotiations broke down with the previous opening act, Enrique Iglesias, sources indicated that Spears’ camp was eyeing Nicki Minaj as a potential replacement.
As both sides negotiated terms of the deal, Nicki dodged questions, only telling MeetThaDealer.com, “I don’t know yet. Britney’s a beautiful girl whom I love.”

Dog Sh*t" is the first time the trio has worked together since 1999's "It's Mine," a Scarface-inspired single from Mobb Deep's platinum album, Murda Muzik. In the years since the collaboration, the parties had beef at points, notably in Nas' "Destroy & Rebuild" on 2001's Stillmatic and through interviews in the years that followed. When Mobb Deep signed with 50 Cent's G-Unit Records in the mid-'00s, the group expressed publicly that Nas had intentionally made a similar move to align with then-Jay-Z's Def Jam roster. |

IRS Files $5.6 million Tax Lien Against Lil Wayne.

On March 2, the Miami-Dade County Clerk filed a $5.6 million tax lien against rapper Lil Wayne. According to documents obtained by the Detroit News, Wayne owes the back taxes from the years of 2008 and 2009. The second set of tax penalties, in the amount of $2,258,956, was assessed 20 days after the rapper was released from a nine-month stint in prison on weapon possession charges, while the first set was assessed a month earlier while Wayne was still incarcerated. According to the lien, Wayne can refile the taxes anytime before November 24, 2020. |

According to Snoop Dogg, his collaboration with Charlie Sheen and Filter’s Rob Patterson should be released before the end of next week. During an interview with George Lopez, where Snoop laughed off Cameron Diaz’s allegations that he sold her marijuana while they were both enrolled at Long Beach’s Polytechnic High, he confirmed hitting the studio with Sheen.
