50 Cent Explains Photo With Jay-Z Backstage In Detroit.
![]() 50 Cent Explains Photo With Jay-Z Backstage In Detroit Fif ‘got a chance to kick it’ with Jay at Home and Home shows, co-headlined by Eminem.
The Detroit run started Thursday night at Detroit’s Comerica Park and concluded Friday (September 3). Sitting down with MTV News before the second show, 50, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo expressed their excitement to be a part of the historic event. On Thursday, the Unit performed “Patiently Waiting,” “I Get Money” and “In Da Club.” And by the following morning, footage and photos from the show circulated on various websites. But thelifefiles.com caught a very unexpected gem: One of Jay’s close friends, Lenny Santiago, snapped a picture of the Jiggaman and Fif talking backstage. The energy in the pic seemed to be positive, and both were smiling. It was surprising to all hip-hop fans, considering the fact that since last year, Fif has been throwing jabs at Hov in interviews and on songs such as “Flight 187.” While Fif declined to say exactly what he and Jay conversed about on Thursday, he did say they didn’t have serious beef. “We got a chance to kick it for a minute,” 50 said. “I know people were interested in what that conversation was like. But they can ask Jay-Z. I take people’s actions as if it’s genuinely how they feel. I can only use what I saw you do as if that’s what you meant. I can’t understand what your motivation was prior to that.” Fif has also had some well-documented issues with Diddy. Ever since Diddy aligned himself with Rick Ross several months ago, the General of the G-Unit has publicly lambasted the leader of Dirty Money. But 50 says a recent talk with Diddy helped clear the air between them. “I had a conversation with Puffy the night before Jay,” the Queens mogul revealed. “He gave me a whole new perspective on his actions. He’s like, ‘I understand the way you felt because of what I was doing at the time. But I wasn’t thinking what you was thinking I was. You done hit me nine times. I’m just in the fetal because I understand why you are attacking me. But if I can’t touch bases with you to tell you what I’m thinking or why I did it, then you can’t understand it.’ We created a little clarity out there.” |
Mary J. Blige Announces Tour With Jazmine Sullivan.
![]() Mary J. Blige Announces Tour With Jazmine Sullivan Outing, which kicks off October 2 in Atlanta, also includes R&B singer Miguel. Mary J. Blige and Jazmine Sullivan first teamed up at BET’s “SOS Saving Ourselves: Help for Haiti” telethon earlier this year, and now the two singers will join forces once again, as they’re set to hit the road together for a fall tour. Blige announced the trek — also scheduled to include Miguel — during an appearance on BET’s “106 & Park.” The tour will begin October 2 in Atlanta and feature stops in New York (October 11 and 12); Atlantic City, New Jersey (October 8); and Virginia Beach, Virginia (October 3). Blige told the “106 & Park” studio audience that Sullivan was “one of the most amazing female singers out right now in this generation, and of course, she’s got to be a part of my generation.” She added: “She’s my sister. I love this girl’s voice and spirit. Jazmine Sullivan is for real, and she’s going on the road with me.” The Philadelphia-born Sullivan’s Missy Elliott-produced “Holding You Down (Goin’ in Circles)” remix, which features Blige and Swizz Beatz, dropped Monday. The track samples several hip-hop and R&B hits, including Slick Rick’s “La Di Da Di,” rap supergroup the Firm’s “Affirmative Action” and Blige’s “Be Happy.” Sullivan is set to release her sophomore project, Love Me Back, in October; Miguel is finishing up his debut, All I Want Is You, for release next year. Chris Brown, Raekwon Recruited For Twista’s Perfect Storm.
![]() Chris Brown, Raekwon Recruited For Twista’s Perfect Storm ‘You’re definitely gonna hear the growth and maturity in the music,’ rapper says of album, due in October. For Twista, it took longer than he thought to go home again. The Chicago MC revisited his debut album three years ago with the release of Adrenaline Rush 2007, a nod to his first solo effort, Adrenaline Rush. But it wasn’t until that project’s follow-up, last year’s Category F5, that Twista and his first producer, the Legendary Traxster, reunited. Now, the pair are working together once again, joined by the Windy City’s No ID (Jay-Z, Kanye West) for the rapper’s new LP, The Perfect Storm, due in October. “This album is gonna be different, because you’re definitely gonna hear the growth and maturity in the music, that’s one thing for sure,” Twista told MTV News of the project, his eighth overall. “And also, me being able to get back with Traxster, which is the [producer] that did a lot of my original music, like ‘Adrenaline Rush’ and [records] like that, so we bringing that back. And also having jams on there that’s way different, a different style and vibe. Songs like ‘The Heat,’ which was produced by Traxster and No ID. You’ll be able to hear the whole vibe. You’ll hear me tear into it with songs like ‘Three Minute Murder,’ and you gonna hear me on that sexy thing and you gonna hear me do it with that Chi-Town swag.” Twista also recruited Raekwon (“The Heat”) and Chris Brown (“Make a Movie”) for The Perfect Storm. In addition to a new collection of music, Twista plans to include a documentary about his life with the set. According to the fast-rhyming lyricist, the film will be a diary-like take on his journey intertwined with footage of Chicago. “I’m a person that people don’t get to see a lot of, so when you get the documentary, you get to see how I do things, how I am in the studio, my perspective on the city,” Twista explained. “And the reason I turned out the way I did, as far as my lyrics and the way I see things, my outlook on things and just breaking down the city. It’s a piece of Twista. They don’t get to see me on the other side, so it’ll be cool.” |
